“ Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?” [Jeremiah 32:
27 TLB].
If you read our text in the context of the circumstance that prompted God to ask this self
validation question to his servant Jeremiah, you will see that it was at a time when the
people of Israel had rebelled against God and He was about to send them into captivity as a
result. God revealed this to His prophet, Jeremiah, who warned Israel about their sin and
repeatedly told them that they would be taken captive for seventy years as a result of their
sin. Because of his prophecy, Jeremiah was imprisoned and even then, he continued with
his predictions.
However, in order to demonstrate to Israel that they were going to return to their land
after their seventy year captivity, God instructed Jeremiah to purchase a piece of property.
He also instructed him to safely keep the title to the property. Jeremiah made the property
purchase and completed the necessary paperwork. God declared, "I am the Lord God of all
flesh; is there anything too hard for me?" Even though it may seem impossible that this will
occur, God is saying, you will depart but I guarantee your return in seventy years.
Nigeria is currently engaged in a war for its soul. It will be finalized on Saturday February
25, 2023. It has been said that when Nigeria is free, Africa and the black world will also be
free. Our nation is among the richest in the entire world. If you compare the endowments of
countries like Britain and a few others, you will notice that they are not as well off as our
country, particularly in terms of natural resources, even in human capital. We have
everything a country needs to be one of the most developed in the world. At the time of the
country's independence, other developed nations predicted that it would only be a matter
of time before Nigeria joined the group of advanced countries.
Unfortunately, more than 60 years later, we are still discussing potential, still constrained
by evil men and women who pose as our leaders. They have restrained this country and are
not about to give up. It is said that the president issued the order to change our currency in
an effort to thwart and deter election rigging. These leaders continue to seek power despite
the enormous sums of money they have stolen. One is constantly left wondering what these
people are doing with all the money they are hoarding while disregarding the welfare of
the people they are in charge of. If you call yourself a leader, how do you pass along such
abhorrence to the people you lead? The end has come; enough is enough.
From a natural standpoint, nothing suggests this could happen because these evil men are
taking numerous steps to prevent it. That explains why they boast in the manner they do.
They don't take into consideration God’s role. This Saturday, we are counting on God to
make Himself known. It will be comparable to the fight between David and Goliath. Goliath
was a warrior with enough weapons at his disposal. David claimed he was confronting him
in the name of the Lord because he had abused the name of the God of Israel. Saul
responded, "You don't know what you are talking about. This man has spent his entire life
fighting.” David answered, “He is coming at me with all his strength, but I am coming at him
in the name of the God of Israel, whom he has provoked” [paraphrased]. Of course, we know
how it all ended and God will do the same for us since He never changes.
Do you remember the Mount Camel encounter with the false prophets who were gathered
on one side and Elijah was on the opposite side? God was with Elijah and that day, the
challenge was of the God who answers by fire; let him be God. The one with God ultimately
prevailed and that made the world to now consider any one with God to be the majority.
God is our support system, even though, on our own, we might not have what it takes to
win the coming election. Gideon fought as God directed him in the story of the conflict
between Israel and the Medianites. To fight the Midianites, they gathered 32 thousand
soldiers under Gideon's command. However, God told Gideon, "I will not permit you to go
with many soldiers because if you succeed, it will be attributed to their might." God ordered
Gideon to reduce the number of soldiers to a mere 300. I believe that during this election,
God will demonstrate Himself in battle similar to the one Gideon fought.
In Revelation 3: 7 – 10, God spoke to the church in Philadelphia: “These things saith he that
is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth;
and shutteth, and no man openeth; I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open
door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast
not denied my name.” It is said that when God opens a door, he removes the hinges! The
door that the Lord has opened for us cannot be closed by anyone. This once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity won't pass us by. God will completely deliver our country from the influence of
the devil and she will rise to fulfill her purpose in God's plan. God's will, would be carried
out in our country and Nigeria will be covered in His glory like water covers the sea.
God speaking to Zerubabel in Zachariah 4: 6 – 7 said, “This is God’s message to
Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty—you will
succeed because of my Spirit, though you are few and weak.’ Therefore no mountain, however
high, can stand before Zerubbabel! For it will flatten out before him! And Zerubbabel will
finish building this Temple [b] with mighty shouts of thanksgiving for God’s mercy, declaring
that all was done by grace alone” [TLB].
In Daniel 4: 6 – 17, God pronounced instant judgment on Nebuchadnezzar after he boasted
of his own might, saying, “ Let his heart be changed from man's, and let a beast's heart be
given unto him… This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of
the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom
of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.” To the
glory of God, this is the lesson we will learn in Nigeria.
The Mission will begin a three-day fast on Tuesday this week in light of what we are
trusting God to do in our country because it won't be by power or might but by the spirit of
God. We are taking these steps to ensure a successful election and the selection of a
trustworthy leader. Only then will we be able to breathe a sigh of relief. We hope and pray
that men and women who fear God will rise to become the leaders of our country at every
level. Amen. The year is undoubtedly tough and we are starting to notice that. But if we
maintain our focus on God, we will overcome every challenge and ride in our high places no
matter what happens.
