The Dependable God

‘’For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:.’’

To be dependable is to be trustworthy and reliable. The God we serve is a promise keeper that fulfills all His promises to the letter. In Numbers 23: 19 the Bible records that; God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” A man can make a promise and for whatever reason he is unable to fulfill it but it is not so with God, for God is faithful and cannot fail in His promises.

God may have spoken to you concerning a particular thing and for years now it seems not to be manifesting yet, don’t give up; be consistent in your faith because God will come through for you at the appointed time. We can depend on God because of His track record of being dependable. In Hebrews 13: 8, the Bible records that, ‘Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and forever.’’

And in Malachi 3: 6 the Bible says, ‘’For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.’’ God remains unchanging over time, even when the world around us keeps changing; but it cannot change the nature of God. If He did it in the past, He will do it again now in our lives.

The God we serve is the God of possibilities and impossibilities, which means there is nothing that He cannot do.

In a challenging time like this; as children of God, we have to turn to God for answers to whatever questions the devil is throwing at us. God did not promise us a smooth ride because the world is not heaven but even in the midst of trials and tribulations He will be there with us all through the way. In John 16: 33, the Bible says, ‘’These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.’’

We have a dependable God but we must be ready to rise up and play our part in bringing His plans to come to pass in our lives. We are all in the boat of life; even when the boat is shaking due to the turbulence of life; it can never sink because God is in the boat.

Again, it does not matter the challenges we are going through, if we trust and believe in God, our testimony will be sure. God cannot take us this far to abandon us on the way and so we must wholeheartedly wait upon Him in the place of prayer.

The Lord will calm every storm in our lives and we will come out victoriously in Jesus’ name. Amen.

In times like these what do we do? We have to be committed to prayers and study of the word of God and if we do these, the Lord will turn our situations around for good.
