VOICE FROM EAST AFRICA – REPORT FROM RWANDA
This report covers three years activities of ACFM Rwanda from 2016 – 2018.
Following the declaration of the Theme for the year 2016 – “Divine Enlargement” and the visit of our father in the Lord and the General Overseer, Rev. [Dr.] Williams Okoye, with the International Director of Mission, Rev. Godwin Tsee, to Rwanda in March 2016, a two day seminar was held at ACFM Kigali the headquarters which produced fruitful results of soul wining, healing, deliverance and impartation. Thereafter, the team moved to Ruhango District in the southern part of Rwanda for two more days of crusade to open the third branch of ACFM Rwanda. After the crusade, a seminar was held and the Lord gave us more open doors of ministry in line with the theme of the year and as a result of the impact of the seminar. We opened other branches of ACFM at Nyakagezi Huye in the Southern Province, including ACFM Nyakarambi and two preaching stations all in the Eastern Province and one in the Northern Province. This brings the total number of ACFM churches to eight (8).
The structural [teaching] development began with ACFM Kigali church, with the installation of the discipleship Sunday school Foundation Class. Seminars were conducted in all other branches on “vision casting” of the church generally and training was conducted for the leaders for the discipleship classes. ACFM Ruhango, Huye, Nyinya, and Nyakarambi Sunday school classes were installed for members, which took off immediately. Some members have since graduated from Foundation Class to Membership Class respectively.
CHURCH STRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT
ACFM Kigali local church leadership was installed in line with the five purposes. The Women Fellowship and Youth Fellowship were also installed; with their financial committees and operational church bank accounts. A national bank account was opened for ACFM Rwanda and local church bank accounts for ACFM Ruhango, Huye, Nyakarambi, and Nyinya. The children ministry was established with the children church in ACFM Kigali.
The Sunday school classes are running in all the churches, from Foundation classes to Membership Class. Members are being baptised and graduations are being conducted in all the churches.
ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURE AND DEVELOPMENT
The first and major administrative development recorded in the year under review, was the award of a one-year temporary certificate of registration to ACFM Rwanda by the government of Rwanda, the Rwanda Governance Board, (RGB).
Two national church organs were inaugurated. The first was the National Church Committee (NCC), which is the national administrative organ to oversee all the activities of the churches in Rwanda and the second organ is the National Church Forum (NPF), this is the pastoral platform where we meet to discuss ministerial matters and receive reports from each branch including challenges.
A continuous training programme was put in place conducted for prospective leaders and Sunday school teachers in all the branches. The training covers the discipleship and teaching ministry (Sunday school).
Member’s welfare was in the front burner as one of the social/community works. Members were sponsored to school and others assisted with educational materials, payment of health insurance, accommodation and rent assistance, including feeding and transport assistance. Member’s business empowerment programme was put in place, including women literacy education classes organised by the pastor’s wife, Pastor Abigail Sewusi, to enhance their communication in English.
ACFM Ruhango on behalf of ACFM Rwanda, in partnership with Food For The Hungry Rwanda, donated thirty wheelchairs to the disabled at the Ruhango district headquarters. The donation was received by the executives of the district on behalf of the government of Rwanda.
A landed property was purchased for ACFM Nyinya, which is the second landed property of ACFM Rwanda. The land title has been processed but there is still a little delay in collecting the original papers at the district headquarter of Ngoma district. While the land title of ACFM Kigali has been collected.
In February 2017, the yearly Pastors, Pastors’ wives and church workers conference was held. After returning to Rwanda, more crusades were held. The first half of the year 2017 focused on open-air crusades in four (4) districts in four provinces where our churches are located. The crusade theme was on the year’s theme: “Sound of Abundance”. The crusade took place at ACFM Ruhango, ACFM Nyakagezi Huye, ACFM Nyinya Kibungo, and ACFM Nyakarambi. Also, the graduations of members of the church from Foundation to Membership and Membership to Maturity classes were conducted.

A new branch, ACFM Ndego was added to the ACFM Rwanda family and the two established preaching stations of 2016 were strengthened and equipped to become a local church. The total number of churches increased to nine (9) branches.
There was a visible increase in the number of members baptised in all the branches and Sunday school class attendance also increased and more graduations were conducted. The discipleship classes in ACFM Kigali and Ruhango respectively also moved to maturity level. Most importantly, all the Sunday school manuals from Foundation Class to Conserving the Harvest translation to Kyarwanda language was completed.

The pastors’ poverty alleviation program tagged “Pastors Cow Project – One Cow per family”, was inaugurated and four cows were purchased for four pastor’s families. The cows were distributed to each of the pastor’s family for milk production.
Another plot of land was purchased for ACFM Nyakagezi Huye, while ACFM Ndego raised the needed fund from among the church members and bought a piece of land for the church. This brings the total landed property of ACFM Rwanda to four (4). The land title of ACFM Huye landed have been collected and in our possession.
The year 2018 is characterised by some challenges but our faithful God gave us victory. The year began with the success story of ACFM Rwanda being gazetted and published in the Rwanda National Gazette in February 2018. This is the final and apex registration process in Rwanda. We give God all the glory for helping us to achieve this height in the space of four years of ministry in Rwanda.
Shortly after this, in March, the Rwanda government came out with a new policy on the requirement for churches infrastructure. This led to the closure of many churches which affected seven of our branch churches across the country including Kigali the headquarters. Pastor Abigail Sewusi immediately began a visitation program to strengthen all the affected churches across the country. Those affected branches continued to fellowship in Small Group Fellowships as we work on meeting up with the new policy and standards required by the government of the land.
Similarly, from April to May 2018, our International Director of Missions, Rev Godwin Tsee, visited ACFM Rwanda and went round most of our branches in the country. He also had meetings with the pastor’s forum, the National Church Committee and also ACFM Kigali Local Church Leadership Team. In consultation with the National Overseer, Rev Taiwo Sewusi, the International Director of Mission further constituted other management and administrative organs for the church. The organs constituted are: National Management Committee (NMC), National Finance Committee (NFC), National Building Committee (NBC), and the National Training Committee (NTC). Furthermore, in July 2018, Pastor Abigail Sewusi had a crusade in the Southern Province organized by our ACFM Ruhango pastor and the church. It was a great success, as many souls were saved and added to the church.
